A National Film and Television School Animated Short-film
My Roles in this Project:
VFX Editor
Lead Compositor
VFX Supervisor
Working on Adiós was a deeply rewarding experience. The film, set in rural Spain, tells the emotional story of a father struggling to accept his adult son’s decision to move abroad, grappling with feelings of loss and solitude.
The project was shot in a mix of CR2 and CR3 image formats as PNG sequences. To streamline the post-production workflow, I implemented the animation pipeline I had previously developed for the National Film and Television School. This pipeline, proven successful in earlier projects like Dragfox, ensured efficient collaboration between teams and seamless color management.
The work on Adiós leaned more toward creative challenges than technical ones. The film featured over 45 VFX shots, encompassing a variety of tasks:
CG Integration: Adding realistic CG salt for key scenes.
Action Effects: Compositing a gunshot and muzzle flash to enhance dramatic moments.
Environmental Enhancements: Creating matte paintings for backgrounds and integrating atmospheric elements like chimney smoke and dust.
Rig Removal: Ensuring the scenes remained immersive by removing visible rigging.
A highlight of this project was collaborating closely with the director, which allowed me to contribute creative input to the film's aesthetic. This collaboration encouraged growth in my storytelling abilities and gave me the opportunity to employ a range of compositing techniques to elevate the visual narrative.
